Top Trends From Luxury Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2020
With the arrival of autumn comes a highly-anticipated season of showing off some of the best and brightest wedding trends of the year. While many of the show-stopping creations featured at Luxury Bridal Fashion Week this fall did not disappoint, these were the trends that stood out to us the most.
Striking Silhouettes
From classic, structured ball gowns to new, creative approaches that combined traditional and modern elements, there were plenty of show-stopping silhouettes that had natural blushing brides in awe.
Designers showcased classic looks with a modern twist, for example a trumpet gown, with a clearer waist emphasising the silhouette and a mermaid skirt. Other highlights included layers of fabrics and textures topped with a structured cape.
Bold Colors
This bridal season brought with it a range of bold and vibrant hues in a variety of styles, from sexy dramatic silhouettes to classic ball gowns with changing the natural white walk down the aisle in many remarkable ways.
Vibrant jewel tones like cognac, royal blue, amethyst and emerald green captured attention, adding drama and elegance with pops of color. Other trends seen on the runway were combinations of multiple shades, like pastels, ombre, bicolor and tricolors.
Embellishments
When it came to statement details and embellishments, designers put together sparkling looks with bows, billowy material, frothy layers and delicate beadwork.
Bow-tie belts were a big trend, decorating the waists of many of this season’s spectacular gowns. Billowy sleeves and veils added drama and volume, and materials like ombre tulle and tiered layers of organza and silk shimmering with subtle sequins adorned the creations.
Headpieces
A beautiful, unique headpiece can complete a look while also making a statement. This season made way for exquisite designs that were classic and elegant, small and demure, or large and eye-catching, while being either attached to the head with a headband, or incorporated into the style of the hair with a comb.
Halo headpieces surrounded the face and head with a combination of antique-looking sterling silver, delicate pearls and sparkling Swarovski crystals.
Statement Hair Accessories
Statement hair accessories, both of the subtle and the sparkling variety, had massive grips on the bridal fashion world again this season. Rhinestone combs, classic crystal headbands, pretty tiaras, minimally-ornate hair vines, and wreathes of greenery and blooms often been seen as part of our bridal look on the majority of the catwalks.
Other highlights of the season included detailed hairpins and vintage pieces, which were often placed at the back of hairdos instead of at the crown or the sides of the head, filling the entire head with intricate beauty.
Statement Necklaces
Statement necklaces upped the level of glamour on the bridal catwalk this season. From elaborate chokers to classic pearls, the use of a statement necklace with a strapless dress should not be underestimated. Art-deco designs and glistening crystal-encrusted statement necklaces added intense drama to soft and romantic gowns.
Statement Earrings
Gone are the days of diamond studs as the only acceptable type of bridal earrings. Today, designers gave us standout pieces ranging from statement chandelier earrings to pearl and diamond cluster earrings.
Just like the use of necklaces and hairpieces, statement earrings complete the look with a touch of personal style that you’d want for your wedding day.
Decorative Veil
When it comes to wedding fashion, accessories are just as important as clothing. To top off a great look, brides need something that is both beautiful and stands out. This season, the bridal veil was the biggest trend. Intricately decorated pieces of lace, embroidery and beading were thoughtfully added to the veil, transforming it from a necessary wedding accessory to a must-have item.
The Fall 2020 season showed us that bridal fashion trends are more unique and daring than ever before. Regardless of whether your style is classic, traditional, or creative, there is something out there for you.
