Top Things We’d Like to See in Ant-Man 4
Ant-Man is a fan-favorite, super-powered hero in the Marvel comic universe. He debuted in 2015’s Ant-Man and the Wasp and has since become an important part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rapidly building a loyal fanbase of all ages. A fourth installment of the series would be highly anticipated, so here are some of the top things we hope to see if/when Marvel ever greenlights Ant-Man 4…
Ant-Man vs. The Wasp
The most common fan request for Ant-Man 4 is a showdown between Ant-Man and the Wasp. Fans have grown to love both characters, and the idea of them fighting each other is tantalizing. Imagine a full-on fight between two of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel universe—it would be a cinematic marvel!
Shrink and Grow Tech Upgrades
Ant-Man and the Wasp’s ability to downsize and grow is a huge part of their appeal. It has featured prominently in both of the previous films, and if there’s a third, the technology is almost certain to be upgraded. New inventions or devices could take the shrinking/growing power to a whole new level.
New Enemies
Surprisingly enough, Ant-Man has virtually no enemies of his own. He and the Wasp have been portrayed as merely supporting players in the Marvel universe, so we’d love to see them go up against powerful foes that are uniquely tailored to their size-changing abilities.
More Timely Character Developments
The Ant-Man and the Wasp story arc has been marred by a lack of any significant character development. By the time of their second movie, Hank Pym and Scott Lang have only changed in minor, shallow ways. It would be fantastic to see the duo confront and conquer (or, at least, attempt to) more existential or personal struggles in a fourth movie.
Tie-Ins
It would be great if the story of Ant-Man 4 connected to one or more of the larger stories playing out in the Marvel universe. The series does not have to be a major cause and effect part of the overall drama, but some meaningful cross-pollination could go a long way. A quick cameo from a supporting character from other parts of the Marvel multiverse could provide fans with the perfect bit of connective tissue.
The Entire Wasp Family
In Ant-Man and the Wasp, Hope Van Dyne relives her mother’s legacy as the Wasp, but what about the rest of the Wasp family? There have been many other characters who have taken up the Wasp mantle in various Marvel comics, so it would be great if Ant-Man 4 explored the legacy further and depicted other members of the Van Dyne familly donning their respective suits.
Robots, Goons, and Miniature Mechanics
Ant-Man 4 could offer some serious comedy gold. Imagine the mischievous escapades that could ensue if Scott and the Wasp squared off against robotic foes—all of them shrunk to a quarter inch in size. There could also be scenes featuring robotic goons if the movie’s production budget permits.
More of the Wacky Costumes
In the previous movies, both Ant-Man and the Wasp were known for their often outlandish costumes outside of their super-powered suits. Ant-Man famously donned a children’s swimsuit costume for a beach trip in one scene, and Wasp once donned a pink and white costume for a party in the second movie of the series. Fans certainly appreciate the comic relief from some of these out-of-suit moments, so we’d love to get more of them.
Unique World Settings
In the past two movies, most of the actionhas taken place on Earth. It would be great to see something completely different and out of this world, literaly, like a shrunken-down Aric and the Wasp exploring an unusual asteroid or other cosmic setting.
Crossovers
Ant-Man and the Wasp —not to mention Ant-Man 4—also offer the potential for some intriguing crossovers. While Marvel is likely to continue to keep its multiple universes separate (Thanks to the events of Avengers: Endgame), there’s nothing stopping them from having a character from one side of the MCU cross over into the other to help out or create havoc.
Ant-Man 4 will undoubtedly be an eagerly-anticipated movie if it ever makes it to the big screen. The fan base has grown to love the characters, and it would be amazing to see them grapple with the moral dilemmas and intense battles that a fourth installment could provide. From Ant-Man and the Wasp versus each other to new tech to a host of other awesome additions, there is much for fans to look forward to.
