Meet the Cast
Ana Ofelia Murguía
The family matriarch is voiced by Mexican actress Ana Ofelia Murguía. Murguía is a veteran actress of Mexican film, television, and theatre with over 3 decades of experience. She is known for her roles in films like Amorcito Corazón and Sangre de Mi Sangre as well as plays like Man of La Mancha, El Gallo and Anastasia.
Oscar Nunez
Oscar Nunez plays the role of the family’s patriarch. Nunez is a Cuban-American actor and comedian known for his role on the hit series The Office. He was a series regulars on Halfway Home and The Flash, 2 comedic talk shows on the Latino comedy network mun2. He also co-wrote and starred in the 2020 romantic comedy Perfect.
Cristina Umaña
Cristina Umaña joins the cast as the grandmother of the family. A multi-award-winning actress, Umaña is a celebrated Colombian screen and theatre actress. She is a recipient of numerous prizes and nominations, most notably an International Emmy Award for her lead role in the crime-drama miniseries Perro Amor.
Ysa Penarejo
Playing the role of the granddaughter is Filipino-American actress Ysa Penarejo. Penarejo is most well-known for her recurring role as young Sky in the NBC series Hannibal and her lead roles in The Hub pilot Dan Vs. and Disney Channel’s Kirby Buckets. She will also be seen in the upcoming Netflix series The Magic Order.
Justina Machado
Justina Machado takes on the role of the daughter of the family. She is no stranger to Disney, with a vocal role in Disney’s Planes: Fire & Rescue as well as voicing a character in the animated adventure TV series, Doc McStuffins. Machado is an American-born actress, with the bulk of her career happening on shows like her acclaimed performance as Vanessa Diaz on Six Feet Under and her current role on Netflix’s One Day at a Time.
Rita Moreno
Rounding out the family is the voice of Grandmother, Grammy award-winning actress Rita Moreno. Moreno’s career is a long and colourful one, having achieved success as an actress, singer and dancer, she is currently the only Hispanic performer to date to have won the iconic EGOT – an Academy Award, an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, and a Tony Award.
John Leguizamo
John Leguizamo takes on the role of Agustin, the village wizard. Leguizamo is a critically-acclaimed actor, with a career in film and television spanning more than 30 years. He is best known for unforgettable performances in Carlito’s Way, Moulin Rouge, The Happening and Ice Age.
Oprah Winfrey
One of the most iconic names in entertainment, Oprah Winfrey is joining the cast as the magical and mysterious Madame Miranda. Winfrey is a media executive, actress, producer, and philanthropist whose career spans more than 3 decades of producing and hosting television and film.

The Castillo Family
The story of Encanto revolves around 4 generations of the Castillo family, who are each gifted in special ways. From the feisty younger sister to the no-nonsense grandmother, the Castillo family is one of their own with each member making a unique contribution.
The Magical Creatures
A big part of the charm of Encanto comes from the many magical creatures who inhabit the mansion and the village outside. There are fairies and frogs, a talking tree, and mystical peacocks. This lineup of magical creatures adds a touch of fantasy and fun to the film.
The Villagers

The Antagonists
Every Disney movie has a villain, and in Encanto, there are two: twin brother-sister villains Mirtha and Emilio. They hatch a plan to take the magical mansion from the Castillo family and use its magic for their own ends.
